How to sum up Issa in one word? I’d choose STUNNING! Just look at these jaw-droppingly gorgeous dresses, beautiful prints and incredidbly flattering designs. How could you not fall in love with Issa? Founded relatively recently in 2001, ex-fashion consultant and buyer Daniella Helayel wanted to create clothes that were “all about versatility… An Issa dress can be worn from the beach to the office and then onto the red carpet.” So go on and add a shot of glamour into your everday life with a piece from Issa.

We covered some maxi dresses recently and this one from Issa is certain to make you a head turner. Team with long necklaces and those all-important oversized shades a la Nicole Richie for a glamorous yet casual “I just threw this on!” look. Buy from net-a-porter for £620. Whilst I love colour and colourful clothes, black dresses are a must! I have a few go-to black dresses, and I’m adding this one to the list! Perfect for formal and black-tie events, this black little number is form-fitting, classic and a little bit sexy all at the same time. Also available from net-a-porter at £655.Remember our post selling to you the wonderous virtues of jersey dresses last month? This pink one is a great option is you want a piece of Issa’s elegance and gorgeous design in an everyday dress. It’s sure to comfy and as flattering as the others. Buy from mytheresa for £311.31. Finally, we have this incredible grey (but also available in white) gown available from net-a-porter for £625. I have no other words – this is a dress that speaks volumes all by itself.

Issa are currently working on a new website to delight us with, so keep an eye out for when it relaunches! In the meantime, take a look at this video of the finale of the Issa S/S 2010 collection that was shown at London Fashion Week.

Shady Lady

No good fashion blog could post all summer without mentioning sunglasses. Here are three picks we think you might like.

Oversized sunnies have long been a rather glamorous choice with fans such as Rachel Zoe and Nicole Richie. This pair would go well with a maxi dress for the boho look this summer and this pair are only £12 from ASOS!

What’s set to be a bit hit for Autumn/Winter 2010 is the ladylike look, with Louis Vuitton and Prada championing the trend. Stay ahead of the crowd with this pair of sunnies from Monsoon for £15. They’re sort of half way between Wayfarers and those 50s cats eye glasses that we will probably start seeing in stores for next season. Not only that but the lighter coloured frames are very now – a great example is Prada’s “Postcards” sunnies that you might have seen advertised in every monthly mag and a few bus stops!

Lastly, we have this pair of aviators from Ray Ban for £111 from Net-A-Porter. Whilst oversized maybe be glam, glam, glam, aviators send out a relaxed, chic vibe – think Kate Moss or other models off duty.

Marvellous Maxis

Monday, July 19th, 2010

Maxi dresses have been a staple piece for many fashion-conscious folk for a few years now and the high street has some great options to pick up and love. Not fully sold on the wonders of the maxi yet? How about the fact that they are an easy to look chic and are pretty much guaranteed to be comfortable too? Maxis can also be dressed up with a glam pair of heels and a great clutch for formal events or dressed down with some simple jewellery pieces like bangles and layered necklaces for that boho, Rachel Zoe look that Nicole Richie does so well.

First up we have this absolutely stunning Diane von Furstenberg Carrie Hill dress, £456 from Matches. This piece is a bit of a splurge but it really is gorgeous. We love the layers of silk, the ruffles and the draping of the fabric which comes together in this very chic, sleek and elegant dress. Perfect for formal occassions, summer weddings, the list goes on! Unlike most maxis, you could easily wear this one outside of summer, and as you can see from the pictures, it’s not hitting-the-floor-length so if you wanted to wear this dress in a drizzly winter or spring, you could without worrying that it was going to get wet!

Wallis have some really amazing prints on their maxi dresses this season that it was hard to pick just one! This one in particular is £65 and is covered in this abstract animal print, which is always a winner in summer. Pair with some gold jewellery, oversized shades and long necklaces to truly work that boho look!

Our final maxi dress pick is this one from Oasis, £70. The colours of this dress are gorgeous and will work with any skintone. This dress is such a stunner that accessories should be kept simple so as not to overpower it. This is another dress that would be great for any summer weddings coming up!
