Bright Sparks

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

Add a pop of colour to your wardrobe with our picks of these bright shoes…

Adding bright colours probably isn’t for the faint of heart so we’ll ease you in gently… Why not dip a toe into the world of bright shoes with these lovely Tory Burch Coralee two-toe ballet flats, £195? We especially love this mix of classic nude with the hot pink. Perfect for sunny days.

I personally am seriously in love with these brogues! I love how a serious, rather mannish shoe can be lightened up with the bright yellow soles. Jil Sander, £440.

From one partly yellow shoe to another and we’ve gone for a Carvela solid coloured sandal this time. I am an avid fan of jelly shoes (I LIVE in Melissa shoes) and before you start to worry, let me reassure you that your feet will not get any sweatier or smell any worse than wearing any other shoes! That said, these will really POP out on a bright sunny day and at only £25 is a great way to try on some brights for size.

And so moving onto another jelly shoe, we have these chunky wedges from Dune, (currently in the sale! for) £38.50. What’s so great about jelly shoes is that they can come in some really fab colours (perfect for this post on bright coloured shoes, then!) and – in my experience – they more or less mould to the shape of your foot.

Finally, I couldn’t resist adding these polkadot Marni pumps to the list. They are faaaabulous and most definitely not for the faint of heart! Such fun pumps, buy from net-a-porter for £370.

Spring Scarves

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

Yay spring has finally sprung! Whilst we’re enjoying the slightly milder weather, it still is a long way off from summer so we’ve picked three scarves which aren’t too heavy for the weather right now but will keep you warm at the same time!

I swear this leopard print scarf has been all over Twitter today! It’s sure to be a bestseller at only £15 and from Marks and Spencer – much more affordable than the Louis Vuitton leopard scarves. Coming in pink as well as blue, these are sure to add a nice pop of colour to any outfit but be quick – we’re sure these will sell like hotcakes!

Don’t the colours in this scarf just make you feel happy? We love how bright it is and how perfect it is for spring with the abstract floral print. A bit of a splurge at £265 but it’s worth it, we say! Buy this Jil Sander scarf from net-a-porter.

Finally we have this tribal print Pieces Splash scarf from ASOS, £12. The tribal print is sure to take you right up until summer (including those summer rainy days!) and we think the print is easy enough palette to be worked into most wardrobes.

Oscars Picks

Monday, March 21st, 2011

A long overdue post and we’re sure you’ve probably seen these pictures a hundred times already but admit it, just like us you can’t help but swoon over a good dress! Here’s three we particularly loved from the Oscars:

My personal absolute favourite of the night. Mila Kunis. She totally hit the nail on the head and this Elie Saab dress was PERFECTION. Delicate, feminine and just a little bit sexy without being too much combined with soft hair, a bit of sparkle thanks to the jewels but not too much bling and complimentary makeup – Mila looks every inch a star. It’s been a while since the Oscars were on and yet I can’t stop sighing over this dress. Utterly divine.

I love how FIERCE Helen Mirren looks in this Vivienne Westwood dress. Lizzie and I are both fans of the Grand Dame of punk’s elegant designs and Helen just shows how flattering and amazing it can be to all women of all ages. I love the gunmetal grey colour of the dress as well which would equally suit so many women of many ages.

Finally we adored Cate Blanchett for her fashion-forward pick of this Givenchy Couture dress. It’s incredibly stunning with intricate detailing, a bit futuristic perhaps with those shoulder pads and definitely a bit edgy – perfect for standing out against all those ballgowns on the red carpet. Cate, we salute you for pushing the red carpet boundaries and looking absolutely gorgeous at the same time!
