Spring 2012 Denim Trends!

Wednesday, March 14th, 2012

Last season we saw the input of brightly coloured denim , this season it is even more apparent to be wearing lots of different colours and patterned jeans!

Update your wardrobe for spring with a new pair of jeans, and this summer there will be plenty of styles to choose from. Below are the key trends for denim this season!

PASTEL DENIM

Pastels were a big hit on the catwalk. From citrus yellow to pale mint green and candy pinks. Pick the tone that suits you best and update last years blouse or top with a pair of soft coloured jeans. These ones from Current/Elliott at net-a- porter are a great soft tone to mix and match with your existing wardrobe.

THE CROPPED JEAN

A new trend for this spring is wearing slightly cropped jeans with wedges. Depending on your shape it is best not to go too cropped. To give a chic 60s feel to your outfit keep them ankle length and mid rise. These ones from Uniqlo are the perfect shape and length and come in a range of colours to choose from.

PRINTED JEANS

Prints are everywhere this season form floral to leopard print and tie dye. Denim in any of these prints are high up on the must list for summer. Be bold and try updating you look with a pair. These leopard print jeans from J Brand, would look great teamed with a simple blouse.

Embracing Coloured Demin!

Monday, October 31st, 2011

We all love jeans, we trust jeans, they’re always there in case of emergency when you can’t think of anything else to wear. We have our comfy pair, our going out pair but not all of us have a coloured pair. This needs to change!

This season coloured denim is really popular and available all over the high street for all budgets, however not all of us have been brave enough to try this trend, but you shouldn’t be afraid as anyone can wear it. Don’t think that you can’t ‘pull it off’ as so long as you stick to the style and shape that suits you, you’re safe! It is also not just a trend for the ‘young’ women of all ages, could, and should, have at least one pair or jeans that is not blue or black.

Sure, some colours may be more suited for the more adventurous, but some are very subtle can can be a great way to add block colour to your winter wardrobe. Colour should be key in our winter wardrobes and not just saved for summer and by introducing colour to your jeans, you can make an everyday staple that little bit more eye catching.

It’s quite possible that once you’ve tried a coloured pair of jeans on, you wont look back and they will become a key part of your wardrobe and you will begin to wonder how you coped without them! To give you some inspiration I’ve outlined some of my favourites below, so the next time you’re out shopping be sure to try a few colours on and I’m sure you will fall in love with at least one, if not more!

You can be sure to find items that are on trend and won’t break the bank in Topshop, and these ‘forest’ jeans do just that, in a lovely deep green, they’re great way to introduce colour to your jean collection.

Topshop £38

If you’re not sure green is for you – try this pair from J Brand, available at Donna Ida – this neutral colour is a safer bet to add colour, and look great dressed up or down for different occassions.

J Brand £200

Or Finally we have this great pair from Sandro at Net-a-Porter which will instantly brighten up any outfit. The washed out look makes them slightly more subtle but this is a great red that would suit all skin tones / hair colour etc.

Sandro £165

Coloured Jeans

Saturday, July 16th, 2011

This month we are really loving coloured jeans. Perfect for the summer months, great for injecting some colour into your wardrobe and perfect working the colour blocking trend. Topshop, J Brand and Current/Elliot all have a fab selection on offer right, peep our favourites below:

The budget-friendly option of trying out coloured jeans: Topshop’s jeans come in a variety of colours, the majority of which come in at £38 each.

Rachel Stevens has been seen out and about in her red jeans quite a bit lately – so much so that the Daily Mail even dedicated an article to them! Topshop’s red pair are £38 and come with turned up hems for a cropped, summery look.

Ease yourself into the trend by just going a notch up the colour palette, opting for purple wash jeans as opposed to regular indigo. This pair aren’t an in-your-face, immature girly-girly shade and also may be slightly easier to work into your usual wardrobe. Also £38 from Topshop.

Our last pick from Toppers is this peach pair. An absolutely gorgeous soft shade, we’d love to pair it with a semi-sheer blush coloured shirt for a bit of colour clashing (the good kind, of course). £40 from Topshop.

Love the trend and want to invest? Here’s two we fell in love with:

We just cannot stop staring at these electric blue jeans from J Brand! Make a bold statement in these jeans, £205 from net-a-porter.

From a bold blue to this sweet candyfloss pink pair of jeans from Current/Elliot. Perfect for teaming with a leather jacket to soften it up a little, we also love how net-a-porter have styled it with a striped tee, £165 from net-a-porter.
