SS12 PRINT TREND: PAISLEY PRINT

Thursday, February 23rd, 2012

Paisley prints will be everywhere by summer and I cant wait. The designers have taken this Indian heritage print and transformed the print into great wearable pieces for the catwalk.

This print can be worn in many ways and can really transform looks and update your wardrobe for summer.

Jill Sander, has some key Spring/Summer looks on the catwalk and has used the print head to toe as well as teamed with shorts and skirts.

Pencil skirts will also be a strong look again this season, a great way to show off your feminine curves!

Colour blocking is also still on trend and bold colours will still be around, this dress by Etro £625 is the perfect mix of print and colour perfect for summer teamed with sandals.

The paisley print is so wearable and can be easily added to existing items in your wardrobe. This dress form Reiss £106 in the sale still! Is a gorgeous dress and perfect for the in-between season.

The print trend is rapidly changing all the time from floral to bird prints, but I think the paisley print is such a wearable design. A paisley dress will be the key item to be wearing and will look chic for summer teamed with wedges or sandals!

Trends are always changing, but getting a couple of pieces to add to your wardrobe will be a great way to freshen up your look for summer.  Keep following our Facebook and Twitter for style tips and fashion news!

SS12 Colour Trend: Aquatic Blue

Wednesday, February 15th, 2012

There are several major players in the colour palette for SS12, but one that can be adopted by most is Aquatic blue. This deep, rich blue is a great shade to enhance your wardrobe without being too dominating or overpowering.

This is a great colour to add to your Spring wardrobe as it can be worn throughout the season, early on whilst the weather is still a bit on the chilly side it can be worn with darker jeans or thicker tights, but towards the latter of the season can be worn in spring dresses with bare legs or light, loose vest tops. This colour has longevity and so should definitely make an appearance in your wardrobe.

Armani’s SS12 range which heavily featured Aquatic Blue.

Keep your eye open for satin dresses like the ones above appearing on the highstreet but also be on the look out for sheer blue blouses, which would be great item to buy for the office, that would work as a day to night piece. Here are some examples of highstreet items influenced by the Aquatic Blue trend.

This shirt from Zara is a great way to work the trend, the faded affect gives the whole look a softer feel. At £29.99 it’s easy on the purse strings too.

This HOBBS dress is in the sale(£125 from £139), and would work well with thicker tights for colder days or bare legs on warmer spring days.

Aquatic blue is a great trend to enhance your wardrobe, it could even be carried on into your Autumn Winter wardrobe with the right layering and accessories. You can combine this trend with other trends such as colour blocking (i.e. wearing the dress above) or pair it with the latest jeans and you will find yourself band on trend!

I’d love to hear if you’re buying into any of these trends and how you’re wearing them. Be sure to share your purchases on my facebook page!

Trend Alert! Out of Africa

Wednesday, February 8th, 2012

This years big summer trend is African prints similar to last years safari trend but bolder!

Designers have hit the catwalks and soon the high street will be showcasing their own take on the prints.

Michael Kors has some signature pieces leading the way for this trend. Using animal prints and swimsuits in bold patterns. Safari is the key look that will be coming into season. Long shorts is also a key look to be wearing this summer as well as shirts.

Topshop have added their own lines following the animal print trend that are very wearable with a hint of colour for example this gorgeous printed top £30. This is a great layering piece and perfect to be on trend for Spring/Summer, with a suttle print and colour!

Donna Karen has also got her own take on the African print with A line cut styles and bold prints. This season is all about experimenting and mixing prints and shapes. Do not be afraid to try something different and add a touch of bold colour or pattern to your existing wardrobe!
