The Best Ballerinas

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

Perfect for summer and that easy, chic, relaxed vibe, we bring you the three best ballerinas…

What list of ballerinas would be complete without a mention of French Sole? With loads of ballerinas to choose from ranging from simple (like this classic style) to the fun heart-shaped styles, there’s something to suit everyone’s taste and wardrobe colour palette. We’ve opted for these Chanel-esque beige and black pair, a snip at £90.

We love a good nude and these nude ballerinas from Miu Miu might just be the perfect pair… To stop them from being another pair of nude flats, Miu Miu have studded the heel with Swarovski crystals (can you imagine how they’d look in the summer sun?!), £310.

Finally we have these positively chic flats from Lanvin, £325. We just love the mix of the antique rose leather with the silver toes!

Bright Sparks

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

Add a pop of colour to your wardrobe with our picks of these bright shoes…

Adding bright colours probably isn’t for the faint of heart so we’ll ease you in gently… Why not dip a toe into the world of bright shoes with these lovely Tory Burch Coralee two-toe ballet flats, £195? We especially love this mix of classic nude with the hot pink. Perfect for sunny days.

I personally am seriously in love with these brogues! I love how a serious, rather mannish shoe can be lightened up with the bright yellow soles. Jil Sander, £440.

From one partly yellow shoe to another and we’ve gone for a Carvela solid coloured sandal this time. I am an avid fan of jelly shoes (I LIVE in Melissa shoes) and before you start to worry, let me reassure you that your feet will not get any sweatier or smell any worse than wearing any other shoes! That said, these will really POP out on a bright sunny day and at only £25 is a great way to try on some brights for size.

And so moving onto another jelly shoe, we have these chunky wedges from Dune, (currently in the sale! for) £38.50. What’s so great about jelly shoes is that they can come in some really fab colours (perfect for this post on bright coloured shoes, then!) and – in my experience – they more or less mould to the shape of your foot.

Finally, I couldn’t resist adding these polkadot Marni pumps to the list. They are faaaabulous and most definitely not for the faint of heart! Such fun pumps, buy from net-a-porter for £370.

Shoes That Really Are Made for Walking

Monday, February 21st, 2011

We all love a good high heel but for shoes that you can actually walk in, look no further than mid-heels. A good compromise between fashion and practically, make sure your shoerack is stocked with these wonderous walking wear!

L-R: A classic taupe/nude shoe is an absolute must. They go well with pretty much everything under the sun and a nude colour heel will help elongate your own limbs too – it’s a win-win shoe! We adore this Sabira shoe from LK Bennett, £140. Another classic mid-heel must-have is a black show (of course) and we love this one from Sam Edelman, which features snake skin style panelling which makes it a little more unique from other black heels you might have. Buy from ASOS for £120. We’ve talked about the classics, now for the new classics. A great wedge in a bright, eye-popping colour such as this Maddox shoe by LK Bennett is a true beauty. Pair with your best red lipstick £165. Want some serious statement shoes?  Try these Bella Natural Snake shoes on for size, £155 from LK Bennett.
