I contacted Lizzie as I’m in my early 30s, looking to progress my career and I had been single for a short while. I wanted to know how to dress with sophistication, but in a way that wouldn’t age me and wouldn’t break the bank. My profession is quite traditional however, and I wanted to find a way to dress with style without subscribing to a routine of pin stripe suits.
I found Lizzie’s sessions cathartic, illuminating and fun. It was liberating to have someone review your wardrobe and give you the confidence to discard items that relate to trends and shopping tendencies that are holding you back from achieving the look that you ultimately desire. What Lizzie said made complete sense, and her observations of some of my choices made it clear where I was going wrong.
If you have considered addressing your image for quite some time, and have struggled with solving the problem on your own, when the pieces come together the experience is also a weight off the shoulders. When you spend your life shopping for yourself (mostly by yourself), suffering a fair share of ‘hit and miss’ shopping experiences, it was terrific to be greeted by rails of clothing that were pretty much the items that resembled the “new you” in your mind’s eye.
We achieved so much in the time available. However, unlike many occasions where you go on a spree with the plastic, I felt no guilt. I didn’t look at the things I had bought with any regret whatsoever. Admittedly, I felt I would need to get used to wearing one or two items but I was still excited to give it a try.
Wearing clothes that you feel great in changes your attitude and your outlook. It has made me walk taller, think more carefully about how I present myself, and has encouraged me to maintain my appearance in both my personal and professional life. I don’t think I lacked confidence before, but it has given me that extra bit of self-belief that I needed.
I also found that embarking on this journey led me to look at my appearance generally. I took a holistic approach to the idea of ‘investing’ in myself and I started exercising more regularly and watched my diet.
Today (6 months on) I don’t feel like a different person; I still feel like me – just immeasurably better. I am complimented on my appearance pretty much every week. My boss remarked at the annual dinner that I was the best-dressed person in the firm. Knowing that my colleagues admire me in this way is a great confidence boost. Friends are always checking my breast pockets, collars and waist bands for labels and tags (especially my mates’ girlfriends, who seem hell-bent on dressing their boyfriends in a similar way!).
Like many people I want to do well in life, be happy and realise my potential. I understand that I am my own brand, and I don’t think it’s superficial to place importance on the clothes I wear; it’s a natural part of making the most of who I can be and helping me get to where I’d like to go in life.
For me, it was good value and I would do it all again tomorrow. The consultation and clothing has a fixed cost but you cannot put a price on the confidence and opportunity that can result from investing in yourself. My new wardrobe has filled me with confidence, and I’m so glad that I made the investment so I would definitely recommend it.
Since the sessions I have progressed in my career, and am seeing someone new. I believe that the decision to invest in myself has opened the door for others to invest in me too. Lizzie has been instrumental in this and she is someone that I will meet up with regularly in the future.
